Treatment for Unwanted Facial Thread Veins

Facial thread veins commonly appear around the base and tip of the nose, cheeks, and chin. Many clients seek treatment for aesthetic reasons, though thread veins may also be associated with rosacea. In cases of severe rosacea or extensive thread veins, other treatments such as IPL or laser may be required, which are not offered at Pure Clinic.

Vein-Wave® is suitable for most facial thread veins and uses thermocoagulation to heat and seal the blood vessel. Treated veins disappear immediately, with the full effect settling over 3–4 weeks. Occasionally, veins may appear darker at first before being naturally absorbed by the body.

A full consultation is required prior to treatment, including:

• Comprehensive medical history review

• Discussion of suitability and expected results

• Consent forms and pre-treatment photographs

On the day of treatment: attend with no makeup.

Treatment Process

1. The skin is thoroughly cleansed.

2. The Vein-Wave® fine needle is placed into the vein, delivering thermocoagulation heat.

   • You will hear a click when the device is activated.

   • A short sting and warmth may be felt but settles almost immediately.

3. The fine needle is moved along the length of the vein to treat the entire area.

Post-Treatment Care

• You may feel some warmth immediately after treatment; a cold compress will be applied.

• Mild swelling or small bruising may occur at the treatment site and usually settles within 4–6 hours, depending on skin type.

• A small brown scab or graze may develop within 2–3 days, naturally falling away after a few days. Most clients do not notice this healing process.

• No makeup for 24 hours to allow the skin to heal.

• Multiple treatment sessions may be required, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, for optimal results.
